A day in Saaremaa (March 3, 2011)
Estonian Nature Tours team spent productive day in nature on our biggest island - Saaremaa. Despite of the cold winter and much ice, we managed to locate open water near Steller`s Eider wintering area. A group of 90 Steller`s was about 300m from the coastline which gives nice views through fieldscope. Beside Steller`s Eiders there was also hundreds of Mute Swans, Goldeneyes, Long-tailed Ducks, several Goosanders and a few Velvet Scoters. Nice concentration of waterfowls attracted in the same
area also 6 White-tailed Eagles. On the same trip - just after sunset, we managed to get superb views of the Elk.
